I have come a long way in a couple of weeks.  I said in my first blog posting that I had a learned helplessness about technology as I had my own personal computer tech.  He is not here with me, so I have had to rely on myself to get through.  Here I am.  This course has opened my eyes to many ways of teaching and assisting children with reading and writing difficulties.  What we want is for children to have the best chance of success.  I was reading the opening to a book earlier in the week and it was speaking to the fact that many parents are hesitant to talk to their children with learning disabilities about their future because they are scared for the child’s future.  So sad!  There are paths and programs and trained people out there to help.  Me taking this assistive technology class helps.  I will go back to my job in Newfoundland with a whole new skill set, and building blocks upon which to build.  This is pretty amazing.  The purpose of this blog is to address writing difficulties in children with the use of assistive technology, hence the title.
