Writing Task Analysis Chart. My goodness!

Writing Task Analysis:
Below is a flow chart that my professor, Barbara Welsford, created on the many steps of the writing process.  Her position (and I agree) is that the writing process is a complicated one; there are many steps that are involved in this encoding process.  The chart notes the steps.
If just one of these steps in the process goes awry, children (or adults) can have problems with writing.  Having problems and getting frustrated can feel very debilitating, so if you have a child that is stumped on one of the steps in the whole process, you can very easily have a reluctant writer on your hands.
Have a look at this chart below.  I had never thought about writing in quite this way.  Have you?

The person running through the finish line at the bottom of the task analysis chart is what we, as educators strive for.  We want children to feel like they are successes. Unfortunately, kids can get gripped with fear.  A good reminder (and I am going to post this picture below in my classroom in the fall) is:

This is hard for kids to remember sometimes, or even to know.  I myself, can be gripped by fear or indecision at times, and have a hard time proceeding forward.  Usually, however (like creating a blog for a course that I need to complete a course I am taking) I just bite the bullet and go for it.  And I am an educator and an adult and have no processing problems that I am aware of. Imagine how difficult it must be for some children who have a hard time just holding a pencil properly or who struggle to spell the words that they want to use?  There are better ways to proceed forward so the struggle is not so HARD.  I am getting to that soon...
