Wouldn’t it be great if these same children embraced, felt empowered and that they could write an assignment and not be tortured through the process? Children at their best feel like this:
I was sent this video a couple of days ago. It is from one of my best friends; it is of her kids and her children's friends, truly enjoying their summer. These children feel safe and free to be themselves (like the Marlo Thomas song Free to be You and Me) and are certainly enjoying their summer. The hope most educators have for children is that they feel this comfortable, safe and excited to be learning. Of course, I do not want kids breaking out in song and dance in class, but that love of what they are doing is fine by me. Hope you like it. I think you will.
